WWII Veterans Honored

In recognition of Veterans Day November 11th the Springfield Kiwanis Club paid special honor to its remaining contingent of WWII veterans.

Honorees pictured:(L-R) Bob Circle served as a gunner on the USS Santa Monica; Fred Sparks served aboard the Battleship Nevada on D-Day in June of 1944 as well as the last day of the war against Japan; Ed Davis was with the marines serving in the Central Pacific; Jack Weaver was a member of the gun crews on merchant ships in the Atlantic; Ralph Stickford served in Italy; Kiwanis President Kent Ross. Seated :Fred Hughes was an officer in the Naval Seabees in the South Pacific; George McCann served as an artillery Officer with the 9
th Army from Belgium across the Ruhr and the Rhine to the outskirts of Berlin.
